How You Can Learn To Mount A Stone So It Is Able To Be Used For Your Charm Necklace

Within this article, you will learn how you are able to mount a stone so that it is able to be used for your charm necklace. We are just going to assume that it is a tumbled stone that isn't cut similar to a jewelry stone that has a definite shape and a flat back. Whenever you are dealing with tumbled freeform stone, the type of jewelry part that you desire is the bell cap.

There are several different types of bell caps. Most of the time, you are able to find the bell caps at your local craft store but if you want silver or gold, you may have to visit a jeweler so that he or she is able to place an order for you. There are several craft stores that will have some sterling findings but the majority of them are only going to have items that are plated.

In order to attach the stone to the bell cap, you are going to need a good adhesive to use. Primarily, there are two different types of adhesives that may be used for this specific purpose. The two part epoxy cement is the first type and the single-part thick craft glue is the second. However, you should know that there is a slight difference between the two. Epoxy is going to take more time to set-up, which means that the cap is going to have to be set-up in its place upon the stone during the time that the epoxy cures.

The cement doesn't have any strength until some time has passed once the two parts have been mixed. The epoxy that is used has the advantage of curing with a line that is almost unseen and a much neater application. When uncured, the thickness of the craft cement will be able to hold the cap in its place and everything may be set aside for the day while the cement is able to cure.

The only advantages of this particular type of glue are the thickness, and it is going to show a little bit. However, there are several crafters that like this thick glue since it holds very well within several types of cementing jobs. The basic procedure includes taking the bell cap and pressing it onto the area of the stone within which you want the bell cap to be fitted. You should attempt to fold the arms of the bell cap in order to fairly match the contour of the stone closely.

The once the cement has been applied, everything is already fitted into the shape of the stone. Now you know how you can mount a stone so that the stone is able to be used on your charm necklace.
